Jean-Pierre Weill
Jean-Pierre Weill
When art has been around for thousands of years, it’s not easy to come up with something truly original. In 1992, Jean-Pierre Weill hit on an innovative idea: painting in three dimensions by arranging different parts of a single image on multiple levels of glass. Jean-Pierre Weill discovered that he could use this technique on a variety of motifs, from portraits and still-lifes to landscapes, fantasy, and Judaica.
This technique allows each painting to be enriched by elements of light and shadow, and creates a delightful sense of movement. Success was immediate.
About 10 years ago, the studio moved to Israel, where his daughters, Davida and Safira, joined. A new dimension was added to Jean-Pierre’s original dream. Davida and Safira brought new ideas and a fresh palette to an already rich library of paintings.
